Rare Vrienden Foundation

Last updated: 09/01/2026

1. Our Objective

The RareVrienden Foundation is dedicated to the sustainable empowerment of women and youth in the Kilifi region of Kenya. Our primary goal is to break the cycle of poverty by providing the tools, knowledge, and infrastructure necessary for self-reliance. We focus on three core pillars:

  • Education: Ensuring high-achieving youth, especially girls, have access to secondary and higher education.

  • Vocational Training: Equipping community members with marketable skills in culinary arts and industrial trades.

  • Agro-Innovation: Modernizing local farming and value chains to ensure food security and economic growth.

2. Strategy & Current Projects (2024–2026)

To achieve our mission, RareVrienden operates through 7 targeted initiatives. Our strategy is to provide direct, transparent funding to these specific areas:

  1. Sosoni Farming: Implementing solar-powered irrigation and sustainable crop management.

  2. Culinary Skills: Providing professional kitchen training and "start-up kits" for young entrepreneurs.

  3. Nyari School Digitization: Upgrading classroom infrastructure and digital learning tools.

  4. Girls’ Education: Funding 4-year scholarships for high-achieving students from low-income families.

  5. Poultry Program: Establishing community incubators and poultry farming as a stable income source.

  6. Vocational Training: Supporting women in mastering trades such as painting and aluminum fabrication.

  7. Value Chain Innovation: Developing local products, such as our coconut yogurt project, to increase farmer margins.

3. Fundraising & Financial Management

  • Income Generation: RareVrienden generates income through private donations, targeted crowdfunding for specific projects, and partnerships with philanthropic organizations.

  • Asset Management: Our foundation maintains minimal overhead. All assets are managed strictly for the benefit of our projects in Kenya. We do not hold more reserves than are necessary for the continuity of our ongoing scholarship and agricultural commitments.

  • Spending: Funds are allocated directly to project costs on the ground in Kilifi, overseen by our local project leads to ensure maximum impact and accountability.

4. Remuneration Policy

In accordance with ANBI regulations:

  • Board Members: The members of the Board of Directors of RareVrienden Foundation serve in a voluntary capacity. They receive no salary or attendance fees for their services.

  • Zero-Cost Policy: Board members receive no salary, no attendance fees, and no reimbursement for travel or personal expenses. All administrative and travel costs incurred by the board are covered privately by the members themselves.
