Education & Future Leadership

The Focus: Removing the physical and digital barriers to learning.

The Projects:

  • Direct Scholarships: Full-ride support for girls like Selina.

  • Digital Infrastructure: Upgrading Nyari rural school with ICT lab and high-speed connectivity.

The "Why": We ensure that every girl in Kilifi has a safe and peaceful environment where she can compete on a global stage.

Economic Empowerment & Livelihoods

The Focus: Creating a "Parental Safety Net" through sustainable income.

The Projects:

  • The Poultry Program: Providing community incubators and training for mothers.

  • The Sosoni Farming Project: Irrigation and high-yield crop management (Watermelons).

The "Why": When a mother has an income and a farm has water, Selina never has to stay home to work. Her family becomes her greatest support system.

Vocational Innovation & Trades

The Focus: Transitioning from the classroom to a high-value career.

The Projects:

  • GalFundi Trades: Professional training in Aluminum, Tile Installation, and Construction.

  • Culinary Arts: Professional kitchen skills and entrepreneurship kits.

  • Agricultural Value Chain: Turning local crops into premium products like Coconut Yogurt.

The "Why": We are building a local economy for Selina to lead. We ensure that after graduation, there are high-paying jobs and businesses waiting for our scholars.

To ensure Selina’s success is permanent, we invest in the three pillars of a thriving community.

Our Commitment to Transparency

Direct. Local. Verified.

We believe in a lean model of development where 100% of your donation fuels project costs in Kilifi.

The "No-Middleman" Promise

Unlike traditional NGOs with massive European headquarters, Rare Vrienden is a grassroots operation. Our board and overhead are funded separately, ensuring your gift goes directly to Selina’s school fees, seeds for the farm, and kits for the trades.

Verified Dutch ANBI Status

We are a registered Dutch ANBI Foundation (RSIN: 866162689). This means we meet the highest standards of financial integrity set by the Netherlands Tax Authority, and your donations are tax-deductible according to Dutch law.

Leadership on the Ground

We don't manage from a distance. Our work is led daily in Kilifi by Margaret Safari (Field Officer) and Sandra (M&E offcier ), with strategic oversight from Jonathan Mativo (Project Officer). We live where we work.
