A Brighter Future for Nyari Mixed Secondary School

At Rare Vrienden Foundation, we believe that lasting change begins with opportunity. For the past 18 months, we have been privileged to walk alongside Nyari Mixed Secondary School in Kilifi, building a partnership rooted in hope, education, and a shared vision for a brighter future.

What began as support for essential learning resources has steadily grown into something much bigger. Together, we have provided whiteboards for classrooms, school uniforms for students in need, reading materials, and digital learning tools including a solar panel system, a projector, and a laptop. Each contribution was made with one goal in mind: creating an environment where every student has the chance to learn, grow, and succeed.

This year marked a major milestone in that journey.

Honouring a pledge we made to the school, Rare Vrienden Foundation successfully established the very first computer laboratory in the area. Equipped with ten fully serviced computers and supported by an expanded solar power system, the lab is already being used by learners eager to develop essential digital skills.

In today's rapidly changing world, digital literacy is no longer a luxury—it is a necessity. As technology and artificial intelligence continue to reshape industries, students must be equipped with the tools and knowledge needed to participate in the opportunities of tomorrow. Access to computers opens doors to research, online learning, career exploration, and skills that will remain valuable throughout their lives.

For many students at Nyari Mixed Secondary School, this computer lab represents their first meaningful interaction with modern technology. The impact of this opportunity cannot be overstated. It has the potential to improve academic performance, increase university and college admissions, and empower young people to compete in an increasingly digital world.

Education remains one of the most powerful tools for transforming communities. When students achieve better results, they gain access to higher education and better employment opportunities. As graduates return to their communities with new knowledge and skills, they contribute to local development, create businesses, support families, and inspire future generations. The benefits extend far beyond the classroom.

This journey would not have been possible without the dedication of many people,

including Teacher Will, whose passion and commitment first brought Nyari Mixed Secondary School to our attention. Although he has since been transferred to another school, his impact remains deeply felt. Teacher Will saw the potential of the students and community and helped create the connection that has blossomed into this meaningful partnership. For that, we extend our sincere gratitude and recognition. Individuals like him remind us how much difference one person can make when they choose to invest in others.

Today, Nyari Mixed Secondary School is more than a partner to Rare Vrienden Foundation—it is part of our family. We are proud of what has been achieved together and excited about what lies ahead.

The story of Nyari is a reminder that when communities, educators, and organizations work together, barriers can be broken, opportunities can be created, and futures can be transformed.

We look forward to many more years of collaboration, growth, and shared success.

The future is bright, and for the students of Nyari Mixed Secondary School, it has never looked brighter.
