They couldn’t be stopped.
The budget was still wet. The funding? Still incomplete. But just like painting, you can always begin with step one. And so, that’s exactly what they did—starting with the basics: how to take accurate measurements and understand the dimensions required for doors, windows, and frames.
Over the past few days, we’ve received a series of vibrant photos from a determined group of 20 women and girls, full of energy and hope. They're diving into a new Local Skills project in aluminum construction, and their goal is clear: to earn a living through skill and craftsmanship.
And the cost? Just €75 per girl—covering the entire 12-day training, tools, and even a reusable protective equipement like overall and gloves for safety and professionalism.
Why aluminum? Why now?
Jonathan Mativo, who leads this initiative in Kenya, explains:
“This concept introduces a new cohort of 20 girls to the skill of fabricating and assembling aluminum doors, windows, and partitions. These skills are in high demand in our local construction industry.”
Over the course of 12 practical sessions, each participant will gain hands-on experience with:
Aluminum cutting tools
Riveting guns and drills
Safety gear like gloves and overalls
And most importantly—they’ll leave the program with confidence, practical skills, and a path to financial independence.
By the end of the training, each girl will:

Be proficient in assembling aluminum doors, windows, and partitions
Have the knowledge and confidence to seek employment or start their own business
Be equipped with essential safety practices for real construction sites
These HerSkill Fundis overalls don’t just protect them on-site—they mark them as professionals, boosting their visibility and credibility in the workforce.
Support a girl. Open a door.
With just €75, you can fund the full journey of a future aluminum artisan. Ready to support?
Together, let’s turn opportunity into action—one window, one door, one skill at a time.
